PPF, why is it worthwhile to apply it?

Although the car paint maintenance market has given birth to various maintenance methods such as waxing, glazing, coating, crystal plating, etc., the face of the car suffers from cuts and corrosion and so on is still unable to protect.

The PPF, which has a better effect on the paintwork, is gradually coming into the view of car owners.

What is paint protection film?

The paint protection film is a flexible film material based on TPU, which is mainly used on the paint and headlight surfaces of cars and is tough enough to protect the paint surface from peeling and scratching and to prevent rusting and yellowing of the paint surface. It also can resist rubble and UV rays. Due to its outstanding material flexibility, transparency, and surface adaptability, it never affects the body's appearance after installation.

A paint protection film, or PPF, is the finest way to preserve a car’s original paint finish. Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a transparent thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer film that may perfectly fit any complex surface while leaving no adhesive residue. TPU PPF from Boke is a urethane film coating that converts and retains any paint color with a long-lasting. The film contains a self-healing coating that protects your vehicle from external damage that doesn’t require heat to activate. Keep the original paint safe at all times and in all places.

PPF, why is it worthwhile to apply it?

1. Resistant to scratches

Even if the car is good, minor cuts and scratches are inevitable when we use the vehicle. The TPU invisible car coat from Bock has strong toughness. It will not break even if it is stretched violently. This can effectively prevent damage caused by flying sand and stones, hard scratches, and body bumps (opening the door and touching the wall, opening the door and handling the car), protecting the original paint of our vehicle.

And a good TPU invisible car coat has a scratch repair function, and minor scratches can be repaired by themselves or heated to repair. The core technology is the nano-coating on the surface of the car coat, which can give the TPU the densest protection and enable the car coat to reach a service life of 5~10 years, which is not available with crystal plating and glazing.

2. Corrosion protection

In our living environment, many substances are corrosive, such as acid rain, bird droppings, plant seeds, tree gums, and insect carcasses. If you ignore protection, the car's paint will be easily corrupted if exposed for a long time, causing the paint to peel off and rust the body.

The aliphatic TPU-based invisible car coat is chemically stable and difficult to corrode, making it a good choice for protecting the paint from corrosion (aromatic TPU is less durable in molecular structure and cannot effectively resist corrosion).

3. Avoid wear and tear

When a car has been used for a while, and the paintwork is observed in the sunlight, we will find a small circle of fine lines, often called sunbursts. Sunbursts, also known as spiral lines, are mainly caused by friction, such as when we wash the car and rub the paint surface with a rag. When the paintwork is covered in sunbursts, the brightness of the paintwork is reduced, and its value is greatly diminished. This can only be repaired by polishing, whereas cars with an invisible car coat applied in advance do not have this problem.

4. Enhance the appearance

The principle of the invisible car coat to enhance the brightness is the refraction of light. The invisible car coat has a specific thickness; when the light reaches the film's surface, refraction occurs and is then reflected into our eyes, resulting in the visual effect of brightening the paint.

TPU invisible car clothing can enhance the brightness of the paint, greatly enhancing the appearance of the whole car. If properly maintained, the intelligence and shine of the bodywork can be maintained for a long time as long as the vehicle is washed occasionally.

5. Enhancing stain resistance

After rain or car washing, water evaporation will leave a lot of water stains and watermarks on the car, which is unsightly and will damage the car paint. The TPU substrate is evenly coated with a layer of polymer nano-coating. It automatically gathers and slides off when water and oily substances are encountered on its surface. It has the same self-cleaning ability as the lotus leaf effect, without leaving dirt.

Especially in rain-prone areas, the presence of the invisible car coat significantly reduces water stains and dirt residue. The dense polymer material makes it difficult for water and oil to penetrate and prevents direct contact with the paintwork, which can cause corrosion damage.

6. Easy to clean and take care of

A car is like a person; whether a car is clean and tidy also represents the owner's image, but whether you wash the car in person or go to a car wash is time-consuming and laborious, not to mention the original paint will also be damaged. The invisible car coat has a smooth surface. It is easy to wash, so you can rinse it with water to restore cleanliness and spray it with a particular protective solution for invisible car coats after rinsing. The hydrophobic design allows dirt to fall off as soon as it is wiped off, making it less likely to hide dirt and reducing cleaning time.

If you are used to washing your car four times a month after fitting the PPF, you can wash it twice a month to achieve the same effect, reducing the number of car washes, saving time, and making car cleaning more superficial and more convenient.

The hydrophobic nature of the PPF is to prevent dirt, but it also needs to be cleaned up. Having a PPF makes maintaining the car less complicated, but the PPF also needs simple care, which also helps to improve the use time of the PPF.

8. Long-term vehicle value

The original paintwork is worth about 10-30% of the vehicle and cannot be perfectly restored by a refinished paint job. Used car dealers use this as one of the valuation factors when taking in or trading in vehicles, and sellers are also more concerned about whether the car is in its original paintwork when trading.

By using a PPF, you can protect the vehicle's original paintwork for a long time. Even if you want to replace it with a new car later, you can increase its value and get a reasonable price when trading a used car.

Once the original paintwork is damaged, it will take a lot of time and effort to replace the vehicle or even to repair the paintwork, so it becomes the most effective solution to paint damage.

Overall, a good TPU invisible car coat can protect the original paintwork, enhance the car experience, i.e., save money and preserve value, and is a good choice for car care.

Boke's paint protection films have been selected as a long-term product by many cars detailing shops around the world and are available in a wide range of options, TPH, PU and TPU.
